Rush Limbaugh Cause of Death

On Wednesday, February 17, Limbaugh’s wife announced that the talk show radio pioneer had died.

“Rush will always be the greatest of all time. Rush was an extraordinary man. A gentle giant. Brilliant, witty, genuinely kind,” she said. Extremely generous. Passionate. Brave. And the hardest working person I know. ”

“Starting today, there will be a tremendous void in our lives and on the radio.”

She thanked those who prayed for her husband as he battled lung cancer. Limbaugh announced in February 2020 that he had been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

In October 2020 he said that while his latest scans were “not dramatic”, they were still a step in the wrong direction, as his cancer has shown “some progression.”

During his life, Rush received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Former President Donald Trump presented him with the award in February 2020.

For someone to have cancer is tragic. But I find it equally tragic that Limbaugh constantly tried to adapt the facts about public health to the reality in which he wanted to live and therefore put listeners who believed him in danger.

His downplaying the dangers of smoking was simply a warm-up for his participation in PolitiFact’s 2020 “lie of the year”: Covid-19 denial. Limbaugh’s repeated lies about the coronavirus included everything from conspiracy theories involving Dr. Anthony Fauci to his suggestion that the virus was nothing more than a stunt by people who opposed President Donald Trump.

But it goes from tragic to mind-boggling when one of the purveyors of these lies – someone as knowledgeable, media literate, and savvy as Limbaugh – seems to believe the very falsehoods they are spreading, lives as if they were true, and then feels stung by them as a result.
