Ricky Martin is separating from her husband of six years, Jwan Yosef. The couple announced the news Thursday through a joint statement.
“We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years,” the Puerto Rican superstar and the Swedish-Syrian artist told People magazine in a joint statement. . “Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue raising our children together, preserving the respect and love we have for each other.”
The couple share two children: a daughter Lucia, born in 2018, and a son Renn, born in 2019.
Who is Jwan Yosef?
Jwan Yosef is a Syrian-born Swedish painter. He specializes in fine arts and resides in London, England. He was two years old when his family immigrated to Sweden. He subsequently studied painting at the Pernby School of Painting in Stockholm. After that, he moved to the Faculty of Arts, Crafts and Design at Konstfack University, Stockholm.
In 2013 he had two solo exhibitions entitled Painting about Sex, Flesh and Violence, lol at the DIVUS Gallery in London and High Notes, at Galleri Anna Thulin, Stockholm. He is a founding member and studio holder at The Bomb Factory Art Foundation in Archway, North London.
He met Martin on Instagram in 2015 and the couple began dating six months after meeting in person for the first time in London. They made their romance official on the red carpet of the 2016 amFAR Inspiration Gala. The same year, they also announced their engagement. They got married in 2018.
During an interview with E! News in January 2018, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer shared the news of his marriage. “I’m a husband, but we’re going to have a big party in a couple of months,” he told the outlet. “We exchanged vows, and swore [sic] everything, and signed all the papers we needed to sign, prenups and everything.”
