Former Kansas City Chief left-back Jim Lynch has passed away at age 76, long-standing NFL columnist Rick Gosselin of the Talk of Fame network reported.
Jim Lynch was born on August 28, 1945 in Lima, Ohio. He attended Lima Central Catholic High School and is a person of the school’s corridor of popularity. After graduation, he attended the University of Notre Dame and rode the group in 1965 with 108 and 1966 with 106.
Lynch was the protective skipper of the undefeated 1966 National Champion Fighting Irish group. He also won the Maxwell Award as the nation’s top school football player in 1966. For his commitment to school football, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1992.
In the 1967 NFL Draft, Lynch was selected as the 47th pick in Cycle 2 by the Kansas City Chiefs. He played only 11 seasons for the Chiefs before resigning in 1977. He was a crucial part of the watch as the 1969 KCC group won Super Bowl IV, their most memorable AFL-NFL World Championship.
All told, he showed up in 151 games, including 142 for the Chiefs, and is one of the key players for the group in the latter part of the 1960s and mid-1970s.
