The ESPN MLB expert claimed on Twitter that he had fractured his back in a yard-work mishap on July 17, 2023. He said the injuries happened when a huge tree branch fell on him when he was cleaning up after a major storm in Kansas City.
“The good news is that I still have use of my arms, legs, and Twitter fingers,” Passan added. “The bad news is that I have a broken back.”
Fortunately, even while recovering, Passan will have the tools he needs to carry out his reporting duties. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to his family, friends, and everyone at ESPN for their support, as well as the care and attention of the medical personnel at KU Med. He also mockingly tweeted an image of a shattered tree on his Twitter feed a day after the injury.
