Who is Janice Baker-Kinney? When Janice was in her early twenties, she was leaving school in New Jersey in search of an alternative life, eventually ending up in Reno, Nevada. Over there, she worked as a waitress at Harrah’s Casino, where many stars came to perform. One of them was Bill Cosby sometime in the 1980s. In those days, her Janice was welcomed to a pizza party at the house where Cosby stayed while she was around.

Every time Janice showed up there with a collaborator, she said it was just the three of them. At the time, Janice sensed that the colleague was interested in Cosby and planned to play her partner. However, when they arrived, Cosby offered her two pills that she believed to be quaaludes. Janice later said: “Looking back, it was a silly thing to do. At the time though, I thought, ‘Assuming Bill Cosby says he’s okay, it should be okay to take this.’” From that moment on, she began to feel dizzy while playing a round of backgammon.

As Janice fell from that point forward, she remembered her partner leaving and Cosby reaching inside her shirt. She passed out and the next memory of her was waking up exposed near Cosby, who was also without clothes. Janice felt as if she had had sex the night before. The previous waitress never discussed it in the past because she was embarrassed. Janice later said in court: “I accused myself. For a long time I thought it was my problem. That’s the reason why I didn’t say I was assaulted or feel like one.”

Janice was one of many women who testified at Cosby’s preliminary hearing in April 2018, towards the end of which he was found guilty of a profane angry attack. She said that once other women opened up to the world about their accounts, it started to fail for her, adding: “One day I saw an article, and it seemed like a light flew past me, as that’s what happened to me.” . . In fact, it takes everything inside of me to say the words ‘I was assaulted’ on the grounds that I actually convey guilt.”

Regardless, though, she accepted that she wouldn’t change what Cosby did. Janice said: “He is not innocent. He will never be blameless, and I really want to hold on to that. He will always guarantee that he is honest, but the 60 or so women who have reached out, by and large we know the reality.” Janice currently serves as the stage manager for the sportscasters. She has been married since around 2007 and calls California’s San Francisco Bay Area home.
