Janet Burton is Professor of Medieval History at Trinity Saint David University of Wales. She investigates medieval monasticism, religious orders, and congregations. She is a member of the Society of Antiquaries, the Royal Historical Society and the Learned Society of Wales. She started the Monastic Wales project in July 2007 to research and disseminate knowledge about medieval monasteries in Wales.

He studied history at the University of London. He then completed his PhD at York University’s Department of History and Center for Medieval Studies, studying Yorkshire’s monastic houses in the 150 years after the Norman Conquest. Subsequently he worked as an archivist in York and Aberystwyth, as well as teaching at the University of Wales, Lampeter, working for the York Archaeological Trust, English Heritage and the Vatican. She is Professor of Medieval History since 2006.
