Investigators allege that he knew his killer, a source revealed to CNN Tuesday.
According to the source, two indiviuals were believed to have entered into the hotel room last Wednesday. On Thursday at around 11 a.m, the manager found Aliev unconscious after checking on the guests.

The suspects had already fled away. However, an investigation has been launched to find 35-year-old Chechen suspect who police believe is the killer.

The Chairman of the Chechen Human Rights Association, based in Sweden, told CNN that Aliev was known for his “harsh and offensive remarks” about people of the Caucasus as well as his criticism of the Chechen regime.
“He was killed as a warning to others, thus trying to intimidate everyone who criticizes ‘Russian protégé’ in Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov”.
The official said that police are now hunting for the man’s traveling companion, who disappeared shortly after the murder.
