Reed died at age 80 from cardiovascular collapse on the 21st hike of 2023.
His passing was also confirmed by his former colleague Bill Bradley, the former MP for the Progressive Alliance. He said that Reed had congestive heart problems. It was not disclosed where Reed died, but he was receiving treatment at the Texas Heart Plant in Houston, Bradley said.
Reed won the NBA Most Important Player Scholarship in the 1969-70 season. He won the Thelatest Phenom Grant in 1965, was named an Elite player several times, and went on to rise to one more NBA championship and Finals MVP with the Knicks in 1973.
