Who is Gal Luft? Institute for the Analysis of Global Security’s co-director

Gal Luft is a 57-year-old US-Israeli citizen. She is co-director of the Institute for Global Security Analysis, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. She is charged with conspiring to violate US sanctions against Iran and trafficking illicit weapons.

According to a Manhattan indictment unsealed Monday, Gal Luft is charged with conspiring to violate US sanctions against Iran and trafficking illicit weapons. Luft is a whistleblower and has often accused the Bidens of corruption.

Who is Gal Luft?

Gal Luft is a 57-year-old US-Israeli citizen. She is co-director of the Institute for Global Security Analysis, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. which focuses on energy, security and economic development.

Luft is accused of hiring and paying a former senior US government official on behalf of China-based principals in 2016 without submitting the necessary documentation to be recognized as a foreign agent.

Luft allegedly encouraged a former government worker, whose name was not used, to promote pro-Chinese policies, according to the prosecution. In addition, they claim that she arranged meetings between representatives of Iranian and Chinese energy companies to discuss oil deals that would challenge US sanctions.

In addition, prosecutors claimed that Luft “conspired with others and attempted to negotiate illicit arms transactions with, among others, certain Chinese individuals and entities” by acting as an intermediary to connect buyers and sellers of “certain weapons and other materials” in Challenge to the Gun Control Act of the United States.

Prosecutors allege he tried to arrange for Chinese companies to sell anti-tank weapons, grenade launchers, and mortar shells to Libya. He also allegedly pushed for the United Arab Emirates purchase of bombs and rockets and Kenya’s acquisition of UAVs.

Luft, 57, was detained in Cyprus in February on US charges but escaped after being released on bail and is currently not in US custody. On February 18, a message on Luft’s Twitter account, which has more than 15,000 followers, claimed that he had been detained in Cyprus “on a US politically motivated extradition request.” Luft stated in the tweet: “I have never been an arms dealer.
