A freshman at UMass Dartmouth was recently struck and killed by a nearby vehicle on Thursday, April 6, 2023. The substitute who died in the serious incident was later identified as Frank Pettilo, Jr. He was 19 years old and was hit on Ring Street around 5:30 p.m.
When the accident happened, the Bristol chief prosecutor’s office said the Umass Dartmouth deputy was taken to St. Luke’s Clinic, where his death was announced. The prosecutor further stated that the vehicle that struck Frank was being driven by an individual surrogate. The deputy who was driving the vehicle remained at the scene after the accident.
Observers of the episode said that Frank was walking with a companion in front of his residence and near the police grounds when he was struck. At this time, no charges have been filed for the situation. Petillo’s classmates said the 19-year-old was an individual from the drama club and his death has left them in shock.
UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Mark SA. Fuller sent a letter to the local area of the school, catering to the new episode which included Frank Petillio Jr. In the letter, it was mentioned that Frank was a freshman bioengineering substitute.

The Massachusetts State Police Analyst Unit is conducting an examination. The case has been relegated to the Bristol Region Chief Prosecutor’s Office along with the Massachusetts State Police Vehicle Unit.
An expressive arts student, Alexandra Landry, died Friday morning. Although her thoughts on her demise are still obscure, Fuller considered her an “esteemed part” of the local area as she composed:
“Alex brought profound skill and enthusiasm to his work. His latest compositions are now on display at the Star Store College Display as a feature of the MFA presentation, and stand out as major areas of strength for his life and workmanship.”

UMass Dartmouth is scheduled to hold a candlelight vigil to honor Landry and Petillo on April 10 at 8 pm.
