Who is Fatima Mousa Mohammed?
Fatima Mousa Mohammed was chosen by the City University of New York law school to speak at the commencement ceremony on May 12, but the controversial video has outraged people on social media after it was posted online. A New York City law graduate used her commencement speech to claim the laws are “white supremacy” while she attacked American institutions for being “fascist.”
She criticized the NYPD and the US military as ‘fascist’ and called on her colleagues to continue the ‘revolution’ against capitalism and racism across the country. And in her incendiary speech, the lawyer-to-be claimed that black and brown prisoners are murdered daily in US prisons, while she also criticized her own university for ‘cooperating with global violence’. ‘.
Fatima Mohammed began her speech by saying, ‘I chose CUNY Law School for its articulate mission to be the law in the service of human need. One of the few legal institutions created to recognize that the law is a manifestation of white supremacy that continues to oppress and suppress people in this nation and around the world.’
She billed the school and her former students for ‘working to lift the facade of legal neutrality and confront the systems of oppression that destroy violence against them. ‘Systems that were created to feed an empire with a voracious appetite for destruction and violence.
‘Institutions created to intimidate, intimidate, censor and stifle the voices of those who resist.’ She thanked CUNY for being “one of the only” universities to make a statement allowing students to organize protests “against Israeli settler colonialism.” She claimed that Israel “rains bullets and bombs indiscriminately” on the Palestinians.

Mohammed then rattled off a series of reasons to celebrate his peers, including their help to asylum seekers, before adding: “We did all of this, despite the racism, selective activism, and self-serving interests of CUNY central, an institution that keeps failing us.
“Which continues to cooperate with the fascist NYPD, the military, which continues to train IDF soldiers to carry out the same violence globally.” ‘Let’s remember that everyday brown and black man is being killed by the state in Rikers… that there are refugees on the southern border who are still locked up.
‘That the murder of black men like Jordan Neely by a white man on the MTA is dignified by politicians like Eric Adams and Senator Chuck Schumer. ‘May [the joy, excitement, and anger in the auditorium] be the fuel for the fight against capitalism, racism, imperialism, and Zionism throughout the world.
‘No person will save the world. No individual movement will liberate the masses. ‘Those who brought the ferocity of violence, those who lead the revolution, the people, the masses, those who brought the ferocity of violence, those who need our protection.
‘They will carry out this revolution.’ Throughout his speech, he paused to allow for shouts and cheers of support from audience members, parents, and fellow graduates. Mohammed was previously a summer legal intern at the National Lawyers Union.
Before graduating from CUNY Law School, he attended John Jay College and earned a BA in Law and Society with a concentration in Human Rights Studies. She told audience members at the ceremony that she is “from the rich soil of Yemen, raised on the humble streets of Queens.”
The law school is understood to have removed the clip of Mohammed’s speech from YouTube but later reposted it following a public outcry. She has contacted CUNY for comment.
