People from various places have expressed their support for the petition, highlighting their concern over the incident involving Dixie.
Who is Elliot Palmer?
Elliott Palmer is a member of the Lorain Police Department. According to the Lorain Police Department, Palmer was sworn in to join the force in April 2021.
Dixie’s Tammie Kerns told The Post in a message that her story has gone global. There is a lot of interest in her situation, as evidenced by the interview requests they have received from countries like New Zealand.
The petition was started by Lisa Hughes, Lorain’s medical assistant and animal lover, after seeing disturbing video that Palmer’s body camera had recorded. Hughes had never met the Kerns family before they bumped into each other Friday at a planned rally for Dixie.
The incident that occurred when Dixie and three other dogs belonging to Kerns mistakenly approached Palmer is captured on camera. Palmer cocked his gun and began shooting at the canine playmate. Dixie tried to run away but soon passed out in the street. He dragged himself to the curb despite his injuries.
After creating the petition, Lisa Hughes actively promoted it on all of her social media platforms. As a result, messages of support have been pouring in from different places.
Hughes intends to present the collected signatures to Lorain Mayor Jack Bradley, who, at that time, has not addressed the incident involving Dixie’s death. The Lorain Police Department has confirmed that Dixie’s death is currently under investigation. However, they have not provided any additional details about the ongoing investigation.
