Text messages between Todd, 36, and Cunningham, 47, were leaked on the night of October 1 by NationalFile.com. Todd is married to veteran Jeremy Todd, 36, and lives in southern California. The couple has two children together. The National File report includes pictures of text messages that were allegedly sent between Todd and Cunningham.
Arlene Guzman Todd is the wife of Jeremy Todd and the woman accused of sexting North Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Cal Cunningham. As per the report, Guzman “is the female paramour of candidate Cunningham,” according to a friend of Guzman Todd’s in North Carolina who spoke with the outlet’s source. The extramarital activity with the wife of a fellow veteran came to light as photos spilled details of text messages, where they confessed about kissing each other and more.
“Would make my day to roll over and kiss you about now,” Cunningham expressed in one text message. In another text, Guzman reiterated the same sentiment and said, “I have flexibility this month — done with school, training, big RFPs, etc. So the only thing I want on my to-do list is you.” In response to that, Cunningham said that “sounds so hot and so fun!” The report also details how Cunningham called Guzman “historically sexy,” imagined kissing her, and said he had been dreaming “of our time together.” Not just that, the two plan to “make up an excuse for the fam and ditch the staffer” so they could meet and, in Guzman Todd’s words, “kiss a lot.”

Democratic candidate Cal Cunningham apologized Friday for sending romantic text messages to a woman who is not his wife, a disclosure that could shake up the hotly contested North Carolina Senate race in its final weeks.
Cunningham is challenging Republican Sen. Thom Tillis, with recent public polls suggesting a competitive race. On Thursday, however, as the candidates were set to meet for their final debate, a report surfaced on NationalFile.com suggesting Cunningham has sought a relationship outside of his marriage. In a series of text messages captured in screenshots on the site, Cunningham praised the woman as “historically sexy” and suggested he wanted to secretly meet with her.
“Would make my day to roll over and kiss you about now,” he wrote in another text.
In a statement provided to CNN, Cunningham confirmed that he had breached his family’s trust and apologized for his behavior, while suggesting he would move forward with his campaign.
“I have hurt my family, disappointed my friends, and am deeply sorry,” Cunningham said. “The first step in repairing those relationships is taking complete responsibility, which I do. I ask that my family’s privacy be respected in this personal matter.”
“I remain grateful and humbled by the ongoing support that North Carolinians have extended in this campaign,” he added, “and in the remaining weeks before this election, I will continue to work to earn the opportunity to fight for the people of our state.”
