The Washington Nationals are banking on Elijah Green to be their next genius after selecting the IMG Academy outfielder with the fifth overall decision in the 2022 MLB draft.
Green comes from an athletic family, joining Druw Jones (son of Andruw Jones), Justin Crawford (son of Carl Crawford) and Jackson Holliday (son of Matt Holliday) in a draft class packed with heritage players. Eric Green, his father, was a tight end in the NFL for a long time and made it to the Pro Bowl twice (1993, 1994).
Elijah Green is born to his parents Eric and Leslie Green with two brothers and four sisters. He stands out as truly newsworthy as the son of a former NFL star who is selected fifth overall by the Washington Nationals in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.
His son was thriving as an AAU quarterback, leading his group to a pair of 8U crowns before rising to the top of the championships at the 10U and 12U levels.
His dad was confident that his soccer skills would propel him to a high-profile school career and, perhaps, the professionals. Elijah’s group of Little Leaguers ventured out to Cooperstown for the annual summer meet, where he batted sixth or seventh.
“At this point, he saw football much better than baseball,” Eric added. “He was well informed on the game.”
Either way, Elijah liked baseball a lot better. Elijah decided to quit football and focus solely on baseball when he was 13 years old, paving the way for what he accepted would be his own calling in professional athletics.
“It was just an enthusiasm for baseball,” Elijah understood. “Since football eliminated baseball for about 50% of the year, stopping football just showed my certified love for baseball.”
It was a difficult time for him since his father played in the NFL, but he was always there for him, he says. Eric, who needed what was best for his son, described the choice as “undeniably challenging”.
Although he had high expectations for Elijah’s football calling, he gave him some advice on how best to prevail on the pitch. “I told him, ‘How hard you work, that’s the consideration you’ll get when the opportunity comes,’” Eric understood.
He was moved by that. At the time he initially started playing baseball full time, he wasn’t the most ideal player in his group; he was probably in the bottom five. In any case, he enjoyed himself and in the end he became perhaps the best individual in his group.
Elijah is currently considered to be perhaps the best prospect in the current year’s MLB Draft, a five-device skill with the highest earning potential of anyone in the 2022 class.
Elijah talks about his father’s motivation and edification. “He kept telling me, ‘No one can tell who’s watching, so play hard, keep going and never give up,’” Elijah understood.
“From the beginning, my father trained me to constantly make the best decision, not something unacceptable.” “I think making the best decision has been consistently proven, and people just need to follow that through life.”
Meet Elijah Green Dad Eric and Mom Leslie Green Elijah Green’s father, Eric Green, was a two-time Pro Bowl player and 1990 All-Pro near end with the Steelers, Dolphins, Ravens and Jets during his 10-year vocation in the NFL.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Green twenty-first overall in the NFL Draft. He originally hit the streets for 54 days, missing instruction, preseason and the main round of the 1990 NFL season.
Green at first took steps to make it through the full season, which would have qualified him for the 1991 NFL Draft. His landing at Steelers caused a setback in the game. Until Green got back into the setup, Steeler’s offense forgot to score a touchdown.
He got five of Bubby Brister’s seven scoring pitches when he returned. Because of Green’s bounce, cautious line mentor Joe Greene expressed, “Without Eric Green, we couldn’t have scored a point the year before.”
Green’s adaptability was on display in his most memorable season when he was approached to play wide receiver, slotback, wingback, H-back and, surprisingly, running back.

Green signed a six-year, $12 million contract with the Miami Dolphins on March 11, 1995, becoming the highest-paid tight end in NFL history at the time of his mark.
Tragically, Green was turned over by the Miami Dolphins on July 9, 1996, by then-mentor Jimmy Johnson due to his weight issues and hard-working attitude.
In late September 1996, he worked out with the Ravens before completing his NFL calling with the New York Jets. Once he left the NFL, he moved to Florida with his better half Leslie Green and two children. He is the father of three sons and four girls.
Elijah Green Ethnicity Nationality and origin Elijah Green is an American baseball player whose beginning is in Savannah Georgia as his father was born there.
More details about the player will be released soon. At this time he does not have a Wikipedia page dedicated to him. However, it will soon be up and running.
“Green is a top-tier speedster who can take bases and cover a ton of dominance in the outfield, where he should have the option to play camp for quite some time with a strong arm.”
“Your full toolkit doesn’t show up most of the time, so even if there’s still stress on your hitting device, someone at the height of the main round will probably call you out.”
Finding a genuine center fielder who can hit for power is a troublesome task. Green can become a future All-Star on the off chance that he can further develop his hitting tool and tap into his power potential.
