Edwin Castro was seen leaving a Chase bank in Southern California on Wednesday holding up a white envelope as his security guard followed him into his $250,000 white convertible. Powerball billionaire Edwin Castro flaunted his vintage Porsche as he walked out of a California bank, after spending $29 million on two Los Angeles mansions.
He struck it rich overnight in February after coming out as the winner of November’s record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot. The billionaire wore a long-sleeved Under Armor top, loose black pants, and flip-flops as he beamed from ear to ear.
Castro appears to be spending wisely. He recently bought a sprawling $4 million home in Los Angeles and another $25 million property in the Hollywood Hills, where his neighbors will be Ariana Grande and Jimmy Kimmel, just days earlier.

Castro’s life changed when he bought the winning ticket at a local gas station last year. His identity was revealed at a press conference in February which he refused to attend in order to remain ‘private’. California state law requires lottery winners to reveal their full names whether they want to or not.
But, the billionaire’s life has been on display as his million-dollar purchases have made headlines. Castro’s recent $4 million Japanese-inspired estate is the latest in his property portfolio.
The aesthetically pleasing five-bedroom, five-bathroom home features manicured gardens and a sun-drenched pool that complete the home’s exterior, while the interior is graced with numerous luxury amenities. His latest purchase comes with his own home theater, private office and expensive artwork, all sure to improve given Castro’s sizable new bank balance.
The Altadena house is a short drive from where Castro grew up. If Castro tires of the $4 million estate, he’s just 20 miles from his second California compound, which he bought for $25 million just eight days earlier. The sprawling 13,578 square-foot hillside home is complete with a full outdoor kitchen, gym, wine cellar, and infinity pool.

His real estate expansion comes after it was revealed that Castro is being sued by a fellow California resident who alleges he had the winning ticket and it was stolen. Despite the legal challenge, Castro reportedly finally claimed the $997 million lump sum payment last month after landing the winning ticket in November.
At the moment of the victory, lottery director Alva Johnson said Castro wanted to remain private and had declined an invitation from lottery officials to attend the news conference.
In a prepared statement, Castro said: “Although I am shocked and excited to have won the Powerball drawing, the real winner is the California public school system.” California public schools act as recipients of the state lottery. It means that the education system received more than $156 million as a result of the record victory.
