Derrick Boseman Wiki – Biography

Derrick Boseman is a preacher in Tennessee but best for being the brother of Chadwick Boseman, an American actor, and producer are best known for T’Challa in the Marvel’s Universe Black Panther. On Friday, August 28th the 43-year-old died of colon cancer at 43, leaving behind his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward.

Boseman attended college at Howard University in Washington, D.C., graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing. One of his teachers was Phylicia Rashad, who became a mentor. She helped raise funds so that Boseman and some classmates could attend the Oxford Mid-Summer Program of the British American Drama Academy in London, to which they had been accepted.

Boseman wanted to write and direct and initially began studying acting to learn how to relate to actors. After he returned to the U.S., he graduated from New York City’s Digital Film Academy.

He lived in Brooklyn at the start of his career. Boseman worked as the drama instructor in the Schomburg Junior Scholars Program, housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, New York. In 2008, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

He is the firstborn in a family of three brothers. The second-born brother is Kevin Boseman who is a Comedian, Dancer, and a Podcaster while the most renowned was the youngest Chadwick Boseman known for his role as T’Challa in the Marvel’s Universe Black Panther.

They were born to Carolyn and Leroy Boseman, both African American. His mother was a nurse and his father worked at a textile factory, managing an upholstery business as well.

Chadwick Boseman, star of “Black Panther,” died on Friday after a four year battle with colon cancer, his rep confirmed to Variety. He was 43.

“Chadwick’s passing is absolutely devastating,” said Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios and chief creative officer of Marvel, in a statement. “He was our T’Challa, our Black Panther, and our dear friend. Each time he stepped on set, he radiated charisma and joy, and each time he appeared on screen, he created something truly indelible. He embodied a lot of amazing people in his work, and nobody was better at bringing great men to life. He was as smart and kind and powerful and strong as any person he portrayed. Now he takes his place alongside them as an icon for the ages. The Marvel Studios family deeply mourns his loss, and we are grieving tonight with his family.”
