Debbi Kahaiali is the wife Willie K. Who was known as Willie K, was an American musician who performed in a variety of musical styles, including blues, rock, Hawaiian, and opera. Born and raised in a family of musicians in Lahaina, Hawaii, Willie began performing at the age of 8 alongside his father, Hawaiian jazz guitarist Manu Kahaiali’i.
In 1993, Willie began a collaboration with Amy Hānaialiʻi Gilliom that would last for nine years. The pair recorded, performed, and toured together, and also shared a personal relationship. Their recordings won seven Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, part of Willie’s total of 19 Hokus as a musician and producer.
In 2005, Willie’s reunion album with Gilliom, Amy & Willie Live, was nominated for a Grammy in the first year of the Best Hawaiian Music Album award.
In 2007, Willie K became one of very few artists to win a Hoku as part of three different acts – his collaboration with Eric Gilliom won Best Contemporary Hawaiian Album, in addition to wins already achieved with Amy and as a solo artist.

Willie K Cause of Death
Willie K aka William Awihilima Kahaiali’i, the Hawaiian Grammy Award-nominated singer, has died following a two year battle with cancer. Willie K is survived by his wife, Debbi Kahaial’ i, as well as their four children, Karshaun, Max, Lycettiana, and Antoinette.
The Instagram post announcing his sad death read in part, “We are sad to announce that Willie K has passed away on Monday night (May 18th) in his home in Wailuku surrounded by his ohana.” The post went on, “He was in positive spirits, doing okay, and he was looking forward to performing again. He then suddenly turned for the worse and lost his battle.” The tribute concluded by saying that a celebration of Willie K’s life will be announced at a later date.
According to a post on Willie K’s Instagram page, the singer died on the evening of May 18. He was first diagnosed with lung cancer in February 2018. A post on Willie K’s Facebook page in April 2019 saw the singer announce that he was undergoing immunotherapy.
