David Amess Jr is the son of Sir David Amess, he was a British politician. A member of the Conservative Party, he served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Basildon from 1983 to 1997 and for Southend West from 1997 to 2021. A long-term and vocal Eurosceptic, he supported Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum and was a supporter of Leave Means Leave, a pro-Brexit campaign.
On October 15, 2021, Amess was stabbed multiple times while performing surgery on his constituency and died at the scene of the attack. He contested the secure Newham North West Labor Party seat in the 1979 general election, and the seat was retained by Labor MP Arthur Lewis.
