Avelino Borromeo Lim, often known as Samboy “The Skywalker” Lim, was born on April 1, 1962, in Quezon City, Philippines. Skywalker was discovered at the age of 15 while playing on the courts of Phil-Am Life Homes in Quezon, courtesy to former basketball star Jun Celis. This resulted in sports scholarships, which were especially important given that the younger Lim’s father, Lim Sr., died of coronary thrombosis just before he started high school.

Samboy joined the San Miguel Beermen in 1986, and he spent the rest of his 11-year professional career with the team. He made his professional debut on October 7, 1986. In addition, he got the first-ever sportsmanship award for his outstanding performance on the court. After retiring in 1997, he became the manager of San Miguel, Barangay Ginebra Kings, and Welcoat House Paints.

Jamie has gold and silver medals in karate. Christine also participates in the 61-kilogram weight class and is a well-known martial artist in the Philippines. How Did Skywalker Lim Die?

Lim’s health was a concern throughout his playing career since he suffered multiple injuries as a consequence of his on-court pranks. However, on the evening of November 28, 2014, he was taken to the hospital unconscious after falling only minutes after leaving a PBA Legends exhibition game at the Ynares Center in Pasig. After slipping into a coma, the medical personnel admitted him to the Medical City’s Intensive Care Unit before moving him to the Intermediate Care Unit.

On January 14, 2015, he awoke from his coma and was sent home, where he continued to undergo treatment and rehabilitation. after years, Samboy was cared for by a team of medical professionals who worked around the clock. Sadly, he died at the age of 61 on December 23, 2023.

His family reported his death on Lim’s official Facebook page. According to the article, Lim died peacefully at the Medical City, accompanied by family, including ex-wife Darlene and daughter Jamie, former teammate Allan Caidic, and friend Robert Evangelista. Fans and well-wishers have expressed their sympathies to the footballer and encouraged Jamie on social media.
