The body camera film was provided by the US Park Police and the DC Metropolitan Police. It showed officers responding to a vehicle theft call and then advancing on the vehicle, which was left on a private driveway.

Who is Dalaneo Martin? On Paseo 18, Dalaneo Martín, 17, was sleeping driving the boat when an unidentified police officer, who appears in the video, woke him up to capture him. Martin filled in and at the last minute started dating the officer still in the secondary room.
Pointing his gun at the high school student, the police officer asked Martin to stop the vehicle and let him out, but Martin would not tune in and continued driving.
