Dakota Chinnock faces a first-degree murder charge for what police called a “brutal attack” on his girlfriend Sunday morning. Aurora police said they were called to a City Center Station apartment at 8 a.m. for a report of an injured person, the sentinel reported. Upon arrival, officers “located a 20-year-old woman suffering apparent physical trauma,” Aurora Police Officer Matthew Longshore said in a statement. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chinnock was also inside the apartment and was arrested after an initial investigation. Investigators did not provide details about the woman’s injuries or whether weapons were used. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will provide your identity later.

“The motive for this brutal attack is not yet known,” Longshore said. “Detectives will continue their investigation and are asking anyone with information about this incident, who has not yet spoken to police, to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.”
Aurora PD, in her press release announcing Chinnock’s arrest, referred to the deceased woman as Chinnock’s girlfriend of 20 years. However, the authorities hide the identity of the woman while the coroner’s office finishes notifying her relatives that they are notified of her death.

APD officers responded at 7:58 a.m. to a call from an injured person at City Center Station Apartments in the 1100 block of South Carson Court.
“The motive for this brutal attack is not yet known,” said APD. The department asked anyone with information about the incident, and who has not yet spoken to officers, to contact detectives. Chinnock was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Center on one count of first-degree murder. He has a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday morning.
