American rapper Da Brat, 49, gave birth to his first child with his wife, Jessica “Judy” Harris-Dupart, 41, on July 6. They welcomed a baby boy named True Legend Harris-Dupart. The rapper expressed her gratitude, saying, “I can’t believe she snapped out of me! It feels like a dream. It’s perfect in every way.”

Who is Da Brat?

American rapper Shawntae Harris-Dupart, often known as Da Brat, was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 14, 1974, and she spent much of her youth there. Her mother, Nadine Brewer, worked as a city bus driver, while her father, David Ray McCoy, was a businessman.

Da Brat rose to fame in the 1990s. She received a record deal with So So Def Records in 1992. In 1994, she released her platinum-selling debut album, “Funkdafied.” Da Brat made history by becoming the first female solo rapper to be certified platinum and the second female rapper (solo or group) after Salt-N-Pepa.

He achieved two top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart throughout his career: “Funkdafied” in 1994 and “Not Tonight” in 1997. Both tracks peaked at number six on the Hot 100. On the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart , “Funkdafied” also peaked at number two, while “Not Tonight” peaked at number three. The song “I Think They Like Me” by Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri (JD) is just one of the artist’s other notable hits.

Da Brat formally acknowledged her relationship with Jesseca Dupart, a powerful figure in the hair care industry, on March 26, 2020. They married on February 22, 2022, in Georgia.

The couple announced in February 2023 that they were growing their family and expecting their first child. The rapper had a miscarriage earlier, and she underwent surgery to remove polyps and fibroids before becoming pregnant. She gave birth to their son in July 2023.
