According to the Waterloo regional police, officers were sent to a home around 10 a.m. Saturday. They found a dead 8-year-old child when they showed up.

On Sunday morning, three flagged police vehicles were visible at 4790 Townline Rd., close to River Road, as police investigated. “The terrible loss of an 8-year-old, especially in such an enigmatic way, raises a lot of concern for our environment,” Police Chief Bryan Larkin said.
