Claire Louise Henderson was jailed for four years on Friday after the court heard she turned to the methamphetamine trade to finance her own ‘all-consuming’ drug habit. A methamphetamine-addicted mother was arrested with 55g of ice in her pants after she was seen delivering suspicious drugs to a man in a parking lot.
The South Australian District Court learned the Christie Beach woman was under surveillance on February 5, 2021, when she was caught with a “significant” stash of methamphetamine in her underwear. The court heard that police observed Henderson in a car park on Marion Rd in Plympton, Adelaide, “handing an item to a man”.

When cops stopped her and searched her vehicle, they located 616 grams of GHB, also known as fantasy, with a street value of up to $4,312, as well as $1,500 in cash, The Advertiser reported.
She was arrested and taken to a watch house where she was searched. “During the course of a body search, police found two ounces of methamphetamine in separate plastic bags that you had hidden in her underwear,” Judge Barkley said.
The court heard that 55.6 grams of methamphetamine were found in her pants, of which 44.6 grams were pure, equating to a value of up to $22,240. After her arrest, police searched her property and found another 75g of fancy resealable plastic bags and tick lists.
The court heard that the 28-year-old engaged in drug dealing to finance her habit and pay off a $30,000 drug debt she owed to her partner. She had lost custody of her son when she was 21 after slipping into drug use, she told the court.

Henderson pleaded guilty to commercial drug trafficking and two counts of drug trafficking and was sentenced to four years in prison, backdated to January 23 when she was arrested. After her arrest in 2021, Henderson received a beating from Magistrate Susan O’Connor for her behavior.
“Their only interest of hers in her life is to get cheap money, cheap drugs, and a cheap fix,” the magistrate said. “Think of the community sitting behind me asking what are you doing in the criminal courts to allow these people who do so much harm… all the drug dealing means you’re a parasite and taking advantage of other people’s misfortunes.”
The court heard that Henderson failed to attend court last August and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was arrested in January. Henderson will be eligible for parole in January 2025.
