Chris Rozman Wiki, Biography

The incident happened on Monday, February 13 at 8.30 pm and resulted in a person being shot dead and five getting injured. Cops received the details of the suspect within hours. Meanwhile, the shooting suspect was declared dead while the investigation is still in progress. Internet is now applauding the Michigan State Police for its quick investigation and for bringing out relevant information.

Chris Rozman, who was heading the investigation into the Michigan State University shooting, has been lauded. On LinkedIn, he describes himself as, “I am an experienced law enforcement professional with diverse and extensive personal and professional experience. I enjoy teaching, learning, and leading with passion and compassion.” He has a Master of Sciences in science from Cleary University, and a Bachelor of Scienes degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University. He has been working in different capacities with the state police as a police officer, task force detective, detective, detective Sergeant, lieutenant, captain, inspector and now as interim deputy chief for more than two decades.

As previously reported by MEAWW, the police missed out on their chance to shoot the killer, Salvador Ramos, which could have saved the lives of 21 people during the shooting which happened on May 24, 2022. The officer radioed for permission to shoot, but reportedly never got an answer. When the officer asked the supervisor for permission to open fire, the supervisor “either did not hear or responded too late.” The officer turned around to see that Ramos had already gone inside “unabated”.

“A reasonable officer would have considered this an active situation and devised a plan to address the suspect,” a report, published by the Texas University’s Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training program, read. When officers finally entered the classroom, over an hour after the shooting began, they were not well-equipped to confront the gunman. It appeared as though “effective incident command” was never established among the various law enforcement agencies

In a press conference on May 26, 2022, The Texas Department of Public Safety regional director Victor Escalon reportedly said, “During this time that they’re making those calls to bring in help to solve this problem and stop it immediately, they’re also evacuating . . .  students, teachers. There’s a lot going on. A complex situation. They’re measuring, they’re measuring,” as per Financial Times.

An official statement read, My department and I will never be able to express in words the deepest sympathy and condolences to the individual families and the entire community of Uvalde. We extend our most sincere gratitude for the enormous outpour of support from all Law Enforcement Agencies, our community members and the nation. I want to thank all the personnel of my department for their dedicated and tireless efforts to continue to provide service to our community during this difficult time. Our personnel have displayed the upmost commitment to our community during this difficult time as we all are suffering as members of the community, that is the family of Uvalde. It is important for our community to know that our Officers responded within minutes alongside Uvalde CISD Officers.”

The report added, “Responding UPD Officers sustained gun-shot wounds from the suspect. Our entire department is thankful that the officers did not sustain any life threating injuries. This is an ongoing investigation that is led by the Texas Rangers. I understand questions are surfacing regarding the details of what occurred. I know answers will not come fast enough during this trying time, but rest assured that with the completion of the full investigation, I will be able to answer all the questions that we can. I know words will never ease the pain that we are all suffering, but hope you will join me in taking some solace in knowing that the pain comes from the fact that we all have such deep love for all the victims who have been taken from us, those who are recovering, and those who only time and love will continue to heal. As the close-knit community that we are, know we will come together and help each other heal as the family that is #UvaldeStrong.”

Netizens are now comparing the Michigan shooting investigation to the Uvalde shooting investigation. A user said, “MSU should be proud of their law enforcement response tonight. And this guy who has given two pressers so far from MSU Police is doing a stellar job, taking a ton of questions from reporters as well. What a complete dichotomy from Uvalde.” Another added, “Lansing police have always been right on top of s**t. Some of the best police in the state.”

A tweet read, “1) Uvalde; 2) Nothing like “Evalde” – not a place or event; 3) Doesn’t appear like Uvalde at all – police response appears really quick in an evolving situation. So, no to your reply to MSU Police, Adam/Mr. Tears/whatever.” “Police here entered the MSU buildings, not like Uvalde. They did an outstanding job. The photo posted of the suspect made all the difference, as he was spotted walking past someone’s house, off campus. He had escaped the campus, and was all the way up on north side of Lansing,” wrote another user. On Reddit, someone wrote sarcastically, “Uvalde police why are the cops rushing into that school?”
