Louise was only six years old when she was diagnosed with bone cancer, osteosarcoma. Her doctors told her that the condition made it necessary to cut her leg and not only that, because of the rare and risky amputation, called an external hemipelvectomy, they will also amputate half of her pelvis, so it will be impossible for her. wear a prosthetic leg. Louise explained: “When I was young, I didn’t think I would get a job, fall in love, have a family or any of those things because I had never met an amputee who would. I spent countless nights crying over photos of me before the amputation, wondering why it happened to me, wishing I would wake up one day and have two legs again. I always stood out, and that caused me to finally withdraw from doing things that caught my attention, like playing sports. ”
But she regained her confidence when she was in her twenties when she met like-minded people on the internet. She said: “In fact, it played an important role in gaining my confidence because I found that the more I exposed myself on social media, the less I cared how people reacted to me in person. [Also] I found a model with the same amputation as me on Instagram … I remember seeing she posted photos of her in a bathing suit and even had photos showing her scars. ”

She continued, “I enthusiastically sent screenshots to my boyfriend and friends, can you believe it? Someone with the same amputation as me. On crutches. Going to the beach.
