Chelsea Simms, 22, has recounted her three-year ordeal at the hands of her boyfriend Robert Dobson, 29. A former hairdresser has bravely recounted her ordeal at the hands of a violent boyfriend who strangled her until she passed out and locked her up for four days. Chillingly, the vile Robert Dobson even told Chelsea Simms that he had dug her grave during a three-year campaign of abuse.
The former hairdresser spoke out boldly after Dobson was jailed for a campaign of abuse against her. Now 22-year-old Chelsea, who was told she couldn’t communicate with her mother during her relationship with Dobson, has spoken out to encourage other victims to come forward.

She said the Hull Daily Mail lived in fear of Dobson between 2018 and 2020 after the bully threatened to kill her or injure her colleagues. And in a direct message to others who suffer in silence, he said: “It may seem very difficult at the time, but you must put yourself first and be safe, because your life is more important than someone taking it from you.
“They could say they love you and things like that, but it doesn’t work like that. People don’t want to hurt you if they love you.” Chelsea met Dobson, from Selby, North Yorkshire through mutual friends. And he said that the first three months of their relationship were “the best.” However, the 29-year-old Dobson quickly began to control her.
In his first bout of violence, he fractured Chelsea’s cheekbone and eye socket, then strangled her on five separate occasions, it is alleged. Six months later, he forced Chelsea to delete her social media accounts. “It got to the point of ‘delete your mom’s number, I don’t want you to text your mom,'” he said.But the situation only got worse.
‘I Dig you a Hole
In a terrifying incident, Dobson took Chelsea to a remote area and told her that he had “dug a hole” for her. But police only got involved when they allegedly locked her in the back of a van for four days after learning she had gotten a new job as a store assistant. Concerned colleagues reported his disappearance to the police.
The relationship ended in February last year, but Dobson’s threats only escalated and he paid Chelsea’s friend 50 pounds to spy on her. However, Dobson finally faces justice. Last week, he was jailed for two years and ten months after admitting to controlling and coercive behavior.
Law of Care
The charges of assault and false imprisonment will be shelved. Chelsea has urged anyone who is concerned about a partner to contact the police under Clare’s Law. The scheme allows the police to disclose information, upon request, about a previous history of domestic violence.
“The police will support everyone by asking if their partner has a violent history,” Chelsea said. If I had known this before I met him, I would not have been in this situation, so I would really like to emphasize this.”
