Early Life and Career
Flack was born in Enfield, London, the youngest of four children born to Ian Flack and Christine Callis. The family moved to Thetford, Norfolk, shortly after her birth, when her father, who worked as a sales representative for Coca-Cola, was promoted to management.
When Flack was 7, the family moved again to nearby East Wretham. Flack and her twin sister, Jody, were born when their sister Elizabeth was 10 and brother, Paul, 8. Jody, who was six minutes older, was originally supposed to be called Caroline, but her mother decided the name did not fit her. She attended Great Hockham Primary School and Wayland Community High School in Watton, Norfolk.
In 2002, Flack gained her break on television playing Bubbles on the sketch show Bo’ Selecta! She then presented the International Pepsi Chart Show, before moving to Channel 4 where, in 2005, she presented links between videos on E4 Music and co-presented The Games: Live at Trackside on E4 with Justin Lee Collins.
In 2005, she also had a regular segment on the video games show When Games Attack. A year later, she co-presented the Saturday morning show TMi with Sam and Mark, which aired on BBC Two and the CBBC Channel. Subsequently, she hosted the CBBC show Escape from Scorpion Island together with Reggie Yates.
In March 2007, Flack hosted the CBBC coverage of Comic Relief does Fame Academy, commenting on the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with Paddy O’Connell. She also hosted Big Brother’s Big Mouth during Week 5 of the 2008 series.
Daily Mirror journalist Rob Leigh commented that “her sharp delivery makes her the best presenter they’ve had on this series”. However, this was not the first time that Flack was linked to Big Brother. Before the series began, it had been reported that she was Dermot O’Leary’s replacement on Big Brother’s Little Brother.
The boyfriend of TV presenter Caroline Flack, who was found dead at her home on Saturday, has said he is heartbroken by her death.
Flack, 40, was due to go on trial on 4 March for assaulting Lewis Burton, a prosecution he did not support. She had been forbidden by a judge from communicating with him before the trial.
The former host of ITV2’s Love Island is reported to have been discovered at her home in east London on Saturday. A lawyer for her family said she had taken her own life.
Boyfriend Lewis Burton
In an emotional Instagram post, Lewis Burton said: “My heart is broken”.
A lawyer for her family said Flack had taken her own life.
Her management company said the 40-year-old had been “under huge pressure” since she was accused of assaulting Burton – a charge she denied.
She was due to stand trial next month.
In his post accompanying a picture of the couple at a beach bar, Burton promised the star he would “be your voice baby”, and that he would “try make you proud everyday”.
Burton said in his post that he had not been allowed to be with her. His full post reads:
“My heart is broken we had something so special.
“I am so lost for words I am in so much pain I miss you so much I know you felt safe with me you always said I don’t think about anything else when I am with you and I was not allowed to be there this time I kept asking and asking.
“I will be your voice baby I promise I will ask all the questions you wanted and I will get all the answers nothing will bring you back but I will try make you proud everyday.
“I love you with all my heart.”
