Brent Smith Wiki – Brent Smith Biography
Brent Smith is a music agent. He has represented a number of high-profile musicians, including Drake, Calvin Harris, Adam Levine, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, and Pharrell Williams. He previously worked at William Morris Endeavor (WME). WME suspended agent Brent Smith on September 22, 2020, for “behavioral issues,” pending an investigation, sources to Deadline.
Smith has worked in the music industry for over two decades, starting out at Frontier Booking International working for Ian Copeland. He then transitioned to WME and eventually became a partner, building an impressive clientele with staggering streaming numbers and massive arena tours to match.
Prior to fronting the rock band Shinedown, Smith had a high school band named Blind Thought and later was the lead singer in a band called Dreve, which Atlantic Records had signed. Atlantic Records forced Brent to either find another band or lose his record deal. He put together Shinedown shortly after.
He then went to Los Angeles, California to record with well-known producer Desmond Child. Shortly after returning home to Knoxville, Tennessee, Atlantic dropped the band but retained Smith. He was soon given a developmental contract by Atlantic Records. Smith moved to Jacksonville, Florida and began working on the project in 2001.
In early 2016, the band started recording their sixth album, as they revealed in an interview with Wes Styles of the 97.7 WQLZ radio station. The album, Attention Attention, was released on May 4, 2018. The first single off the album, titled “Devil”, was released on March 7, 2018.

WME Suspends Music Agent Brent Smith
WME has suspended agent Brent Smith, citing “behavioral issues,” Variety has learned. The agency has initiated an investigation, according to Deadline, which first reported the news.
Smith has represented a handful of high-profile musicians, including Drake, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Pharrell Williams, Childish Gambino and Frank Ocean. While it’s unclear what provoked the agency to take such action, multiple sources tell Variety that low morale and infighting have dominated the day-to-day goings-on internally.

Those insiders describe the overall presence of bullying and “aggressive behavior” stoked by a power vacuum as the upper ranks of WME’s music division have shifted. One source notes that a workplace “culture change” — namely: corporate intolerance of bad behavior at work — has been somewhat of a rude awakening for agents long ensconced in the “old way of doing things.”
WME declined to comment on Smith’s suspension.
