Betty Lynn Buckley , born July 3, 1947 in Big Spring, Texas, is an American actress and singer.

Childhood

She is the daughter of Betty Bob Diltz, a dancer, and Ernest Buckley, an engineer. She graduated from Christian University in Tewes where she studied journalism.

Career

In 1977, Betty was cast as Abby Abbott in the series Eight Is Enough, replacing actress Diana Hyland, who died of breast cancer after only four episodes. This gave her her first major role in a series.

In the 1980s, she starred in the films Tender Happiness and Another Woman . On the TV side, she appeared in Evergreen and Cagney and Lacey . In the 1990s, she appeared in an episode of L.A. Law in 1991 and then she starred in the films Last Time Out in 1994, Dilemmas in 1996 and Simply Irresistible in 1999.

In 2001, she returned to a major role, that of Suzanne Fitzgerald in the series Oz . From 2006, she played Lorraine Maxwell in the police series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . Her character appears several times throughout the different seasons.

At the same time, she guest-starred on FBI – Missing in 2006, Brothers & Sisters in 2007 and Melrose Place: New Generation in 2010. The following year, she played Hanna’s grandmother in a few episodes of the second season of Pretty Little Liars .

In 2016, she starred in the award-winning film Split, and then she appeared in an episode of Chicago Med . The following year, she was cast as Patricia Arias in a few episodes of Supergirl ‘s third season , and in 2021, she landed the role of the grandmother in Preacher . In 2024, she starred in the film Imaginary .

Privacy

She married Peter Flood on April 29, 1972. The couple divorced in 1979.

She lives on a ranch in Texas and raises horses.
