Bas Balkissoon is a former legislator in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Ontario Regulatory Assembly from 2005 to 2016 who addressed the Scarborough-Rouge Stream leadership. From 1988 to 1997 he was a civic councilor in Scarborough and from 1998 to 2005 he was a councilor in the merged city of Toronto. On Paseo 22 of 2016, Balkissoon left the governing body.

Bas Balkissoon was born in 1952 (age 71 years) in Trinidad and Tobago. He is the son of an Indian drop. Balkissoon rose to fame as director of the Scarborough Mortgage Owners Fair Spending Coalition, an association that piloted the region’s property appraisal framework.

Bas Balkissoon was elected in 1988 to the Scarborough city chamber in what was then District 13. With the arrangement of the recently merged City of Toronto, he was elected to the Toronto City Board in 1997. Balkissoon also served a stint in the police administrations charge in which he was incredulous of then-Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino, as well as the Toronto Police Affiliation and its chief at the time, Craig Bromell.
