Axel Acosta celebrated his 21st birthday in October. The eighth victim who died in the Astroworld festival stampede has been identified as Axel Acosta. Axel’s father, Edgar Acosta, confirmed the identity of the 21-year-old whose remains were recovered from Memorial Hermann Hospital after the tragedy. However, the cause of death is not yet known.
Cynthia Acosta, Axel’s aunt, said it was the “first time that the young man went to an event like that.” She went to Houston, Texas from Washington just to see Travis Scott perform at NRG Park. Axel celebrated his 21st birthday in October and was a computer science major at Western Washington University.

Melynda Huskey, vice president of enrollment and student services at Western Washington University, said: “By all accounts, Axel was a young man with a vibrant future. We send our condolences to his family on this sad day ”. Previously, the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences released Axel’s photo for his identification. His father said police made it difficult for her to file an absence report for his son because he lived in Washington.
The other seven victims of the stampede were identified as John Hilgert, Brianna Rodríguez, Franco Patino, Rudy Peña, Jorge Pérez, Jacob Jurinek and Madison Dubiski.
Franco Patino and Jake Jurinek were childhood friends. The former was celebrating his 21st birthday on Friday, November 4 with his friend from his high school, but they both died in chaos. Franco was studying mechanical engineering at the University of Dayton and his friend was studying art and media at the University of Southern Illinois. They have both attended Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois, before going to their respective colleges.
Speaking after Franco’s death, his father Julio Patiño said: “I’m in shock, I’m angry, I’m all of the above right now. I saw the images when people started to enter [the event]. He was already packed. When they couldn’t control the crowd, when they knew the crowd would get so loud, the owner should have stopped him right then. They could have done something before he reached the point of no return. ”
Jake’s family also released a statement, saying that he is “loved by his family and by the seemingly countless number of his friends for his infectious enthusiasm, boundless energy and unwavering positive attitude.” His devastated father added: “It’s a terrible loss, he was a great kid.”
Meanwhile, after facing a backlash, Kylie Jenner, who was at the event, released a statement that said, “Travis and I are devastated and devastated.
