Skillful life and profession The DJ and radio character from Ireland moved to Belfast to focus on English literature at Queens University. During her time there she attended Shine, a club in Belfast where she was introduced to dance music and had a deep-seated enthusiasm for it.

Macintosh had sparked an interest in radio when she earned her certificate and a master’s degree in the discipline from Farnborough College of Technology. Macintosh then moved to Camden, London, to live with her brother. She worked with understudy-run radio broadcaster SBN and had a DJ residency at Camden Underworld.

She started functioning as Steve Lamacq’s right-hand man on BBC Radio 1 when she was 21 years old, and after three years she dismissed the Annie Mac show.
