In the impact of the collision, both the car and the house caught fire. The accident was reported Friday before 11 a.m., according to local reports from NBC Los Angeles. The 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue was the scene of the incident, according to multiple local newspapers.
Heche was reportedly in serious condition with severe burns when she was pulled from her car. LAFD paramedics rushed her to a neighboring hospital.
According to some sources, Anne Heche was allegedly speeding in a blue Mini Cooper in the Mar Vista neighborhood when it went off the road and crashed into the building at 1766 Walgrove Avenue after the vehicle hit the sidewalk. This may also help explain why the car went straight into the house.
The front yard of the house was hit by the Mini Cooper. According to Fox 11, a neighbor was able to safely remove the owner and her pets from the burning residence.
The actress was reportedly placed on a stretcher before being taken to the ambulance while she was still breathing and conscious. Doctors at the neighborhood hospital were unable to determine if it was a DUI (driving under the influence) case even though the accident is still being fully investigated. Due to her serious condition, no field sobriety tests were conducted at the time.
