Alaska state officials announced that three different children under the age of seven were available at the home but were not injured. On Wednesday, July 27, police in Fairbanks, Alaska said a boy shot and killed his three family members and was found dead with a clearly self-inflicted shock wound.
On Tuesday night, July 26, Alaska State Police received a report of shots fired at a Fairbanks home. Tim DeSpain, representative of the officers, said that the neighbor made the report. Officials were shocked to find four babies with gunshot wounds. DeSpain stated that the parents of the young people were not at home during the episode and that the murdered children were 5, 8, 17 and 15 years old.
DeSpain said the 15-year-old shot his three relatives before pointing the gun at himself, and the reason for the horrific shooting is slowly being examined. The bodies were then taken to the state clinical analyst’s workplace for further examination.
Officers revealed that there were three other uninjured teens in the home. DeSpain said the uninjured children were all under the age of seven and were all relatives.
According to DeSpain, the weapon used was a family pistol, but beyond that, the request is still ongoing. DeSpain was unable to find out if the 15-year-old shooter had recently collaborated with police. He said, however, that the state Office of Children’s Services has been educated.
