Alasia Franklin – Georgia College Student Gunned Down In Front of Residential Complex

A Georgia college junior was shot and killed Saturday during an argument in front of a campus residential complex. Kennesaw State University identified the victim as Alasia Franklin, 21. She was pursuing a career in nursing, her father, Bobby Franklin, told WXIA.

Campus police issued a shelter-in-place alert for the campus, northwest of Atlanta in Cobb County, while investigators searched for a suspect. He was located about 45 minutes later, off campus, and was detained by Cobb County Police, who identified him as Samuel Harris.

Harris is not a student at the school and was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.

Bobby Franklin told WXIA he thought the shooting may be an incident of domestic violence.

Alasia Franklin was a junior member of the 2023 KSU Homecoming Court.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” KSU President Kathy S. Schwaig said in a statement.

The university is providing counseling services for those affected by the murders.
