To support his release, Mark played solo shows around Los Angeles, however, he still didn’t gain much success.

In late 2009, he founded his band Foster the People with Jacob Fink and Mark Pontius, and their first single “Pumped Up Kicks” was released in 2010. In May of that same year, the band signed with Columbia Records, and their debut album “Torches” was released in 2011.

Their first single was named a ‘sleeper hit’ since it gained popularity in January 2011 and peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
