Her recent photos show that she continued losing weight after “My 600-lb Life”, not only becoming slimmer compared to her time in the show, but also visibly more active physically, as seen in the vacation pics she sometimes shares on Instagram. While her current weight is unknown, there’s no denying that the changes which Zsalynn has been through are noticeable, not only in her body but also in the happy smile she often sports now.

The first time we saw Zsalynn Whitworth was in the second season of “My 600-lb Life”, at a time when she weighed around 597 lbs. She was 42 years old back then, and on the verge of completely losing her mobility, seeing herself trapped at home while only being able to watch TV for hours, and indulge in her unhealthy eating habits.

Keeping up this routine every day for years resulted in Zsalynn developing low self esteem concept, as she confessed that she ‘hated’ living in her skin due to all the difficulties her big size entailed and the increasing joint pain she faced daily.

Things weren’t very easy at home for Zsalynn, as not only did she have a young daughter to worry about, but the relationship with her husband was very complex too. As Zsalynn admitted in the show, she was afraid that her massive weight would stop her from seeing her daughter grow up and enjoy other things about life, yet she often indulged in fast food and treats which did no good to improve her situation.

Despite facing many complex situations along the way, Zsalynn lost 240lbs under Dr. Now’s guidance and also underwent bariatric surgery.

One of the most unforgettable yet criticized aspects of Zsalynn’s story had to do with Gareth, her infamously unsupportive husband. By the time Zsalynn debuted in the show, she and Gareth had been married for several years and had a daughter named Hannah, but the pair’s relationship wasn’t good, as Gareth not only didn’t help Zsalynn in her journey to health, but actively discouraged her from losing weight due to his personal preference for big sized women.

Saying phrases such as ‘Why should you settle for a hot dog when you can have a steak?’ while expressing his negative opinion about Zsalynn’s decision to lose weight, Gareth easily became the villain of Zsalynn’s story, and gained the disdain of fans of the show. His lack of support showed itself more clearly when he didn’t accompany Zsalynn during her surgery.

Much to the joy of fans, Zsalynn eventually divorced Gareth. The split was confirmed in the 2015 spin-off “Where Are They Now?”, in which a radiant Zsalynn affirmed that her life had improved not only because of her weight loss, but also as a result of the divorce. She revealed that she had come to terms with the separation, and no longer felt guilty for doing what was best for her health and daughter.

Despite her young age, Zsalynn’s daughter Hannah was a big supporter of her mother throughout her journey to better health in “My 600-lb Life”. The girl accompanied her mother during some of the toughest moments of her process, such as the bariatric surgery she underwent, and actively  took her side when things between Zsalynn and Gareth went downhill.

Hannah was also the biggest motivator for Zsalynn to start her weight loss process, as she was afraid that her declining health would get in the way of seeing her daughter grow up.

Fortunately, Zsalynn’s efforts to walk towards a healthier lifestyle paid off. Thanks to her social media, we now know that Hannah and she have been enjoying life to its fullest, going together on vacations, hanging out with friends, and celebrating important milestones in their lives, such as Hannah matriculating from high school and happily reaching her 18th birthday in 2022.

All in all, life seems to be going great for Zsalynn and her loved ones these days, and it’s all thanks to her restless will to save her life.
