Biography

Brendan Fraser, born December 8, 1968 in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, is an American and Canadian actor and producer.

Childhood

Brendan James Brendan is the youngest son of Carol Mary (Genereux) and Peter Fraser, who works in the foreign service of the Canadian Government Tourism Office. His parents are both Canadian and have three other boys: Kevin, Regan, and Sean. The family moved frequently, and the children grew up in California, Canada, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
At the age of 12, he spent a vacation in London, where he discovered theater and took his first acting classes.

He attended boarding school at Upper Cananda School and graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle in 1990.

After some time at Southern Methodist University in Texas where he studied for a Master of Fine Arts, he left for Hollywood and began working.

Career

He took his first steps as an actor in 1991 with small roles in television films and on the big screen, he appeared in films such as Twenty Bucks in 1993, A Hell of a Ride in 1995 and Mrs. Winterbourne in 1996 before taking on leading roles in George of the Jungle in 1997 and The Mummy in 1999.

In 1995, he made his stage debut in Los Angeles in the play Four Dogs and a Boone and then in 2001, in London, he played in Tennessee Williams’ play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
He returned to the Broadway stage in 2010 in the Norwegian play Elling .

A few years later, Brendan reprised his role as Rick O’Connell in two other installments, The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. At the same time, he made his debut on the small screen with guest roles in Fallen Angels in 1995, Scrubs in 2002 and Nightcap in 2007.

Since 2006, Brendan Fraser has also been an executive producer of some of the films or series in which he appears.

While continuing to star in numerous film productions, he landed one of the main roles in the miniseries Texas Rising in 2015, then followed it up the following year with the recurring role of John Gunther in The Affair alongside Dominic West .
In 2018, he was part of the main cast of the series Trust and he landed another recurring role in the first season of the series Condor with Max Irons as his partner.

The following year, Brendan joined the main cast of two television series, Doom Patrol , reprising his role as Cliff Steele, a role he played in the fourth episode of season 1 of the 2018 series Titans , and The Professionals , where he played the character of Peter Swann, alongside actor Tom Welling . He has also appeared in the drama film Line of Descent and the thriller The Poison Rose .

In 2022, he played a morbidly obese professor in the film The Whale . For his performance, he won the Oscar for Best Actor the following year and nearly thirty other awards. Obviously, projects are now pouring in and the actor is signed to the cast of four productions in the coming years.

Privacy

On September 27, 1998, he married actress Afton Smith, together they have three boys, Griffin Arthur, born August 17, 2002, Holden Fletcher, born August 16, 2004 and Leland Francis, born May 2, 2006. On December 27, 2007, Brendan announced their separation and the divorce was finalized on April 17, 2008.

Since 2022, Brendan has been living in Bedford near New York with Jeanne Moore, who is a makeup artist.

He sits on the board of directors of the humanitarian organization FilmAid International, which uses film to help displaced people.
Since 2018, he has participated in the annual charity gala of the Dancing Stars of Greewich association, which raises funds for the Abilis organization, which cares for people with disabilities and their families.

Brendan is of Irish, Scottish, German, Czech, French-Canadian, and English descent. He speaks English and French and is also an excellent photographer and an accomplished archer.

Anecdotes

Brendan performed many stunts in his films that required him to undergo several surgeries over 7 years.

Whenever he appears in a film with actor Pauly Shore , he uses the name Link for his character.

The actor has his own star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, located in Toronto.
