Ameer echoed that sentiment, suggesting the mansion could be key to covering Combs’ rapidly increasing legal expenses and potential restitution. “A court may have oversight of where the proceeds from the sale go,” she said.

Trouble Selling the “Stigmatized” Estate

Still, selling the mansion may not be easy. With 10 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and every luxury amenity imaginable—from a theater and wine cellar to a spa house and grotto pool—the estate has drawn interest, but not at the $61.5 million asking price.

The home’s upkeep costs are steep, with annual property taxes around $500,000. And the cloud of scandal hanging over the estate makes it a hard sell.

Bo Belmont, a real estate investor known for scooping up Kanye West’s Malibu home, made a $30 million offer—less than half the asking price. “I want to remove the stigma and focus on the charming elegance of this remarkable property,” Belmont told Realtor.com. He estimated renovations would cost up to $12 million.

Combs bought the mansion for $39 million in 2014 and took out a $25.3 million mortgage on it. Selling now would likely mean accepting a significant loss.
