Amanda Freitag is the daughter of Kathleen and Paul Freitag, who worked as a manager in a computer company; she is not an only child, as she has two older brothers. She attended the Cedar Grove High School, after which she became a student at the Culinary Institute of America.

Career Beginnings

Amanda`s career began soon after she received her diploma from the Culinary Institute Of America, working at the Vong New York, under chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Five years later, she switched to Verbena, under chef Diane Forley, however, that didn`t last long, as she began travel across Europe, mainly Italy and France, showing her skills at restaurants such as L’Arpège, among others.

Rise to Prominence

Her career reached a whole new level in the early 2000s, when she opened her own restaurant, teaming up with restaurateur Godfrey Polistina, to launch Cesca Enoteca & Trattoria, in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
