Laura Benanti, a Broadway performer, has said she performed earlier this week while suffering a miscarriage.

“I felt like this would happen. “Last night started off quietly,” the Tony Award-winning actress wrote on Instagram.

“If it had been our first or second loss, I probably wouldn’t have been able to continue.

“Unfortunately, I am no stranger to the suffering and emptiness of miscarriage.”

She added,

“My husband and I have been down this road together before.”

“However, this time we did it with some of the kindest and most loving people I will ever have the privilege of sharing space with,” he added.

Laura Benanti, 43, who appeared in TV series Nashville and Supergirl, performed for 2,000 people on a Broadway-themed cruise alongside Alan Cumming and Jeremy Jordan.

She continued,

“Thank you to everyone present in the audience for the grace that your presence gave us.”

For bringing me out of my despair during that holy hour, I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you to my friends and fellow artists for so graciously supporting me and adapting to my changing needs.

He also thanked the band, staff and producers, as well as “that little soul” for choosing it as his temporary home.

One of her and her spouse Patrick’s two children was born via surrogate last year.

She continued,

“My husband and I are heartbroken, but we will get through this together, as we and many others have in the past.”

“I share all of this not to provoke pity or attention, but to remind the countless people and families who have suffered and will suffer this way that there is no shame in this type of loss. That you are not alone. And also to call me.”

There was support on Instagram, including from fellow cruiser and artist Randy Rainbow. He stated,

“You are extraordinary in every aspect. My sincere greetings to you and Patrick.”

Benanti has been nominated for five Tony Awards, winning in 2008 for Gypsy.
