Her parents had six children, including Bekka. Colleen and Melvin divorced when Bekka was quite young, and she moved to live with her stepfather in Lincoln, Nebraska. Melvin, Bekka’s biological father, was born and reared in Texas, where he graduated from James Madison High School. He went on to study General Studies at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he was also a swimmer.

Later, he enrolled in numerous universities, gaining degrees in a variety of fields, including vocational education from Wayland Baptist University and a Master’s in Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Texas. He presently resides in Texas and has been employed for about three years as a Trooper Training Academic Lieutenant. Colleen Ziegelbein, her mother, is originally from College Springs, Iowa. She went on to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville after high school, where she earned a degree in psychology. Colleen has been a special education teacher since 2013. She now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bekka’s Stepfather Bill Passed Away in 2013

Colleen Allick, Bekka Allick’s mother, married Bill Ziegelbein of Lincoln in 2013 after divorcing her former husband, Melvin, in 2011. Unfortunately, he perished in a motorbike accident only two years later. According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Bill and Colleen were involved in an accident while riding near White River, South Dakota, during the Sturgis motorcycle festival. According to the same source, the pair was involved in an accident when Bill lost control of the car, drove off the road, and collided with a roadside post. To make matters worse, neither of the pair was wearing a helmet.

Colleen received life-threatening injuries while Bill died on the scene. Thankfully, she survived, and she is now responsible for eight children, six of her own and two from Bill’s previous relationship. Bill Ziegelbein, originally from Polk, was a former collegiate football player. From 1987 to 1991, he appeared in 24 games for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Bill was just 44 years old when he died.
