His defensive skills created records that have survived the test of time, including an astounding 16 straight Gold Glove Awards. He was a driving factor behind the Orioles’ rebirth, contributing to four AL pennants and two World Series championships in addition to his superb fielding. Robinson’s status as a baseball hero was cemented further when he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983, being the only third baseman to do so in his first year of eligibility.
