Beverly Noga, longtime music publicist known for working with high-profile acts like Sonny & amp; Cher and the Bee gees, died of cancer on October 8, a family spokesperson confirmed to Deadline. She was 87 years old.

Noga is said to be the first woman to have her own public relations agency, and she founded Contemporary Public Relations with her partner Bobbi Cowan (niece of the famous publicist Warren Cowan) in 1964. This was the company through which she represented the legendary pop duo. Sonny and cher, along with Grammy-winning disco trio The Bee Gees. Additional clients included Cream, The Turtles, Three Dog Night, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Eric Burden and the Animals, Joe Cocker, Blind Faith and the Chambers Brothers.

Noga continued to represent the Chambers Brothers after the closure of Contemporary PR, founding and running his own companies (Hebewillen Enterprises and Hebewillen Publishing) with Willie Chambers until his death.

Noga came from a family of musicians. His parents, John and Helen Noga, owned San Francisco nightclubs, including Blackhawk and Downbeat, which were once home to artists such as Dave Brubeck, Louie Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, and Dinah Washington. He learned about the artist representation business from his mother, who at one point led the career of pop and jazz singer Johnny Mathis, working out of his offices early on in both California and New York City.

Noga is survived by his daughter, voice actress Sherry Lynn; his son-in-law, actor Robert Briscoe Evans; his granddaughter, actress Jessica Evans; his partner, Freddy Delgadillo; granddaughter Katie Cooper, husband Kyle Cooper, and great-granddaughter Rilo Anne Cooper. Services will be held privately, and plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society and the Foundation for Juvenile Diabetes Research.
