Leanne Leary, 38, suffered two heart attacks and died after undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in Istanbul on July 1. Had she been successful, the procedure would have removed 80 percent of her stomach. The mother-of-three was said to have been enthusiastic about the procedure and she posted a photo of herself in a hospital gown on her family’s WhatsApp group. However, after several hours of no contact after the operation, hospital staff told Ms Leary’s family that the 38-year-old woman had suffered a heart attack but was in stable condition. Her parents are believed to have flown to Turkey the next day, but were told on arrival that she had suffered another fatal heart attack. The MEN reports that Ms Leary’s family is seeking answers as to how her condition worsened so rapidly and that her body has been flown back to the UK where an autopsy is expected to take place.

Cause of Death
Steven Leary, Mrs Leary’s ex-husband and father of two of her children, said: “Leanne was very lively and the life of the party.” She was very kind and generous and was always willing to help other people, even when she herself needed it. My son is very angry. He was very unexpected and you don’t expect when you pay thousands of pounds for a medical procedure that this is going to happen. His daughters are heartbroken. It also revealed that Ms Leary struggled with her weight for several years after struggling to lose the baby weight gained after the birth of two children, Kyle, 15, and Caitlin, 14. The Rochdale Coroner’s Court confirmed that a file related with the death of Mrs. Leary she has been turned over to the coroner and an inquest will be launched into her in due course. Mr Leary also added that Ms Leary’s body was flown back to the UK after her family did not want an autopsy to be carried out in Turkey. A friend of Ms. Leary’s started a GoFundMe page following her tragic death with her three children now in the care of Mr. Leary and her partner.
