Greek authorities identified the tourist as Scott Aaron Seddon, 26, who died on Monday afternoon after being struck by lightning in the Agia Agathi area of Rhodes, Greece. Seddon died at the scene despite attempts by his girlfriend, a Brazilian resident, and emergency services to save him. His girlfriend and other beachgoers reportedly began calling for help after he was struck by lightning. Then those on the beach pulled him out of the water and he “was still alive,” according to witnesses. But he passed away after an ambulance and doctors arrived and was later transferred to Archangelos Health Center.

Machado added: “I was worried the same thing would happen to me because it was still raining, but I didn’t stop.” Rescuers arrived shortly thereafter and performed all resuscitation procedures to keep him alive. Unfortunately, I found out a bit later that he didn’t make it.
An investigation has been launched by the Rhodes Central Port Authority, according to Rodiaki. An FCDO spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Rhodes and is in contact with local authorities.”
