The attack occurred at the Connolly District Office in an office park on Main Street in the City of Fairfax around 10:40 a.m. m., after the man entered the first-floor office. Fairfax City Police said. Both staff members were struck on the upper body with the metal bat and taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.
In an interview with a CNN reporter, Connolly identified the two staffers as a senior assistant and an intern on their first day on the job. “Intimidation and violence, especially against public servants, have no place in our society,” he said. “The coward who did this must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, a Republican, tweeted.
