Who is Roger Hallam? Wiki, Biography, Age, Family, Posts furious 391-word 11-point

Extinction Rebellion co-founder Roger Hallam took to Twitter to share his frustration in an 11-point thread after being served carrots and a handful of potatoes for dinner as the “vegan option” at the hospital.

Hallam posted a photo of a nearly empty plate on his bed containing only a serving of carrots, writing 391 words about the environmental benefits of going vegan, but admitted he had already eaten all ‘six’ potatoes served at the side. The controversial environmentalist, 56, who also helped form the eco-mobs Insulate Britain and Just Stop Oil, has been in hospital after “crushing” his leg during an accident while cycling.

He was pictured last Friday wearing an external fixator in his right leg that is used to hold broken bones in place with metal pins or screws. It comes after a week of Just Stop Oil ‘slow march’ protests in central London, with action expected at 12pm on Saturday. at Westminster.

Roger Hallam Age

Roger Hallam is 56 years old.

Roger Hallam posted his almost-empty plate online alongside the rant

Mr. Hallam wrote along with his measly portion of dinner: “30 [years] after we were told that refusing to switch to plant-based diets would result in the greatest spasms of human suffering in our historical experience due to ecological collapse/ social, this is what the health service of the fifth largest economy just served me for dinner (plus six new potatoes I ate before taking the picture from my hospital bed).’

He went on to stress that he did not blame the NHS or hospital staff or even individual UK policies on the environment.

Instead, he said the “total failure of the entire global human system” to adapt to climate change means the world is headed for “mass suicide.”

He added at the end of the rant: “PS: In case you think I’m picking cherries for this photo, I’ve had similar meals for [the] last 5 days.”

Although the lengthy thread of him garnered well wishes from some, other social media users were quick to point out that while the food may seem rather sparse, it was vegan.

They also criticized the 56-year-old for admitting that he had already eaten a significant portion of the meal before taking the photo.

One user responded: ‘Do you want those carrots or not?’

A second said, ‘At least you’ll be able to see in the dark.’

A third added: “I don’t think he’s understood vegan if he’s given up his veggies.”

Another user, who took issue with the sheer length of Mr. Hallam’s comments, said: “Boiled vegetables causing such spurts of uncontrolled verbal diarrhea is something new I have to admit.”

Other vegans also responded to the thread, with one saying the provision is not the same at other hospitals.

David Brudnell wrote: ‘Get well soon. My wife was recently in Peterborough Hospital and we feared the lack of vegan options. She pleasantly surprised us. Lots of variety.

Mr Hallam’s thread continues: ‘This situation is too serious to point fingers rhetorically. This is not a problem of the hard-working staff at this hospital, nor is it a problem for the hospital or the NHS, or the “policies” of any country.

‘It is profoundly and catastrophically SYSTEMIC, as evidenced by the utter failure of the entire global human system (with one or two peripheral exceptions) to make a system change response.

‘And the reason for this is the totalitarian ethos of short-term utilitarianism and competitive freeriding: the underlying logic of billions of decisions that are made every day.

‘A reformist regime is, BY DEFINITION, incapable of responding to the threat of a system-wide pathology that is universally existential and exponential. The logic of this system is that it will double responses in the short term as the pressures on all systems increase: and become more irrational.

‘This “glitch” in the system has been known for decades and is mathematically indisputable on a theoretical level and supported by 30 years of data on an empirical level.

‘The deepest irrationalism in our human experience is that hundreds of millions of university administrators of this mass suicide are still resisting the only solution at this stage.

Quitting their jobs and turning to resistance to the system while simultaneously building alternative governmental assemblies to take over from carbon regimes as they inevitably collapse over the next two decades.

‘I am involved in building networks of individuals who can feed the growing civil resistance organizations throughout the Western world. Send me a message for more details.

‘Sounds crazy? Remember that now you only have two options: wait to die or take a risk and jump over the fence.

Previously explaining his admission to hospital, Mr Hallam wrote: ‘I am writing this from a hospital bed. Look at the photo. I fell off my bike and crushed my leg bone.

He posted the first day of the last weekend of XR protests titled ‘The Big One’, where Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain and Just Stop Oil joined forces with various other campaign groups to mobilize around 50,000 environmental protesters in London from 21 to April 24.

Writing from hospital, Mr Hallam, the owner of a farm that was described as “poorly insulated” in an official energy performance certificate, encouraged supporters to take part in more demonstrations, adding: “Remember to do the JSO slow marches if you are in the UK.

But most of all, remember that we are going to have the greatest life experiences imaginable in the next decade and we must all come together and move on. And be cheerful about it.

‘Lots of love from the hospital! x (thanks to the NHS)’.

In addition to his environmental campaigning work, Hallam has previously come under scrutiny for comparing the Nazi murder of six million Jews to other historic massacres, while also claiming that Holocaust memory was holding back Germany. .

The former organic farmer was quickly condemned by Extinction Rebellion groups in Germany after comments he made to a newspaper in the country.

In July 2020 it was announced that Mr. Hallam no longer has a formal role at XR and has since moved to Just Stop Oil.

Just Stop Oil, which is a group dedicated to demanding an end to all new fossil fuel projects in the UK, has caused chaos in central London this week after a series of slow marches designed to stop traffic.

The action prompted Home Secretary Suella Braverman to announce stricter legislation against peaceful protesters to allow police officers to remove them from the roads more quickly.
