The 20th iteration of the Unadulterated Salud celebration was upset and forced to shut down just in time due to reports of gunfire on April 8, 2023 at Craig Farm Park in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The shots reportedly came from outside the party but were clearly enough to be heard inside the venue, raising alarm among the crowd at the party. The party affirmed the report that the episode being referenced occurred off party grounds in a video tweet on its official Twitter account:
The tweet also states that the celebration will continue with its corresponding dates, taking additional precautionary measures to guarantee the health of its benefactors.
Los Angeles police said in a statement to KTNV that there were no injuries on the party grounds. Honolulu City Councilor Augie Tulba, who was present at the event, had this to say about the episode in a statement to HawaiiNewsNow:
“You heard a bang and then you just saw kids running. It was not at the carnival. It was across the street in the mall next to the gas station.”
There were also reportedly some fights at the event that day. Party attendee Kendall Weber expressed her support for him in regards to the fights expressed to HawaiiNewsNow:

On the night of the incident, the Hawaiian band Ho’onu’a’s performance was halted as the celebration was closed overnight as a security measure.
The current year’s celebration of unadulterated health commends the long-term commemoration of the occasion. It was established by Shawn Santana, who moved to Las Vegas after selling his organization in the Hawaiian Islands, which he had established after leaving high school.
After performing in town, Shawn began to miss Hawaii’s notable diversion scene and established Vizzun Diversion in 2000 to bring the music and culture of the island to his new home.
The Unadulterated Salaam Celebration was established in 2003 to bring Hawaiian music acts to Las Vegas under one roof and the annual live performance consistently draws many guests.
In addition to music, the party features Polynesian crafts, as well as local food for the AAPI people group and exciting rides for kids and adults.
